Go Do This: Savior Scraps

Brooklyn-based art collective Saviour Scraps works with donated and reused fabric to transform gallery and art spaces into fairytale settings. Members have turned a fire escape in the East Village into the castle turret where Rapunzel was locked up and a warehouse in Williamsburg into a cabin in the woods.

This Friday, Saviour Scraps will join other artists to transform the Cinders Gallery entry into an American front porch for their second “Porch Show.” The show “aims to resurrect and embrace the porch as an outdoor living room where the public and private can merge.” More importantly, there’ll be mint juleps and art babes at the opening and the gallery promises BBQs and bands throughout the exhibition.

Cinders Gallery is located at 103 Havemeyer St. (btwn Hope and Grand) in Williamsburg. The opening is this Friday, the 8th, from 7-10 pm.

P.S. Saviour Scraps artist Shabd Simon-Alexander’s delicate embroidery work is totally swoon-worthy. Check it out here.
