The Parsons MFA Open Studios were last night and between getting lost in the ultra-confusing maze of messy rooms, snagging gummy bears off paper plates and sipping on lukewarm iced tea/lemonade/bourbon cocktails, we saw some art. Unlike previous semesters, however, the students didn’t seem to have as much memorable work to show (senioritis?). Aside from the gag-inducing live broadcast of a pot-bellied minotaur-head-wearing bro jamming his D into various ripe fruits, some predictable but excellent pizza/lazer art by John McSwain, the most notable pieces were by a 28-year-old art babe Langdon Graves. Graves makes both haunting pencil drawings, and soft large-scale multimedia sculptures that seem neither banal nor over thought.

She also happens to be a leggy uber hottie with one of the best mission statements I’ve ever laid my eyes upon (mission statement coming when I tear it out of my roommate’s hands.) Oh, and she and her boyfriend have a blog, NoTEAM, that will make you jealous of their seemingly perfect life. How are girls like me supposed to try to get laid when girls like that exist in the world?
