Here are some musical high and lowlights for this weekend:

FRIDAY 4/27

6:00 PM
Lightning Bolt, The Sun Ra Arkestra
Pratt Lawn, free
Yes, I know you are “eclectic” because you like noise AND jazz, and I know you want to see Sun Ra play his organ with his teeth or something, but it’s simply too fucking disgusting out to make it to this.

8:00 PM
Awesome Color, Deerhunter, Telepathe
Silent Barn aka Raven’s Den, $tba
Deerhunter, while not possibly being as good as the film with the same name, is still the skinniest active band in rock music today. They also remind me of Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine, but not in a “we listened to ‘Loveless’ a lot in college way.” Get on the L and take it one million stops out to this mystery venue in Bushwack Bushwick. Read about Deerhunter in an article by my homie Drew in the Daily News.

SATURDAY 4/28

7 PM
The Killers
Madison Square Garden, $30
It’d be like preaching to the choir to talk shit on this show, so, you know…

11:59 PM
Professor Murder
The Canal Room, $10
Is this an episode of Mr. Show? Are Dr. Retarded and Famous Mortimer going to be in attendance?

SUNDAY 4/29

7:30 PM
Yo La Tengo, Oneida
Webster Hall, $25
I like Yo La Tengo, and they usually play for a long enough time and do some nice covers and all, but why are shows so expensive? Just wait till Crazy 8s and see them at Maxwell’s in Hoboken.

Alleged Rape PM 8 PM
Modest Mouse, Man Man, Love As Laughter
United Palace Theatre, $37.50
I feel like I made this show up in a dream when I couldn’t think of anything to make fun of on this website. It’s real though, and you aren’t going to go to it.
