Go Do This: Waterfront Preservation Alliance Benefit tonight

galapagos.jpg Sub Pop’s Oxford Collapse headline tonight’s benefit for the Waterfront Preservation Alliance of Greenpoint and Williamsburg at Galapagos on N. 6th Street in Brooklyn.

Supporting them are Dischord’s Antelope and French Kiss’s Rahim, formerly known as Radio Raheem when they recorded a 7″ on my ancient record label, Pony Collision Recordings.

Rahim used to remind me of Slint, but now they sound much better, more stripped-down than before. Antelope plays a similar brand of minimal post-punk, and remembering them from their demo that they sent me 100 years ago, they are a fun band. Oxford Collapse gets a lot of press, that’s all I can say about them.

Get there early for an open Brooklyn Beer bar from 10-11 and $3 beers from 11-2. Not such a bad deal - 3 really good bands, free/cheap beer and all for a good cause.
